UK space companies believe growth in the sector will slow down over the next two years. Almost three-quarters of the 227 respondents to a survey commissioned by the British National Space Centre (BNSC) expect to see some growth over the next two years, but most predict lower growth than was seen in the last survey in 2004. The UK’s space industry has grown by 17% over the last two years, but the increase was higher in 2002-3 and 2003-4 at £500 million (£870 million), than the £200 million growth in 2003-4 and 2004-5. Growth forecasts were generally more stable than those reported in the earlier study, with fewer companies predicting high growth of over 10%. But there were also fewer predicting static or negative growth, and most firms forecast relatively low levels of positive growth.
