NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) has taken its first pictures using the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera. With a resolution of about 2.5m (8ft) per pixel, the image was taken on 24 March from an altitude of 2,490km (1,550 miles), about nine times the range eventually planned.
