GECAT to open centre in Moscow

General Electric Commercial Aviation Training (GECAT) and Russian airline S7 are to open a simulator centre near Moscow’s Domodedovo airport in the second quarter of next year. S7 will build and own the centre, and train on the simulators, while GECAT will market excess capacity to other airlines.

Initially GECAT will relocate two simulators – for the Airbus A300/A310 and Boeing 737-300, both operated by S7 – to the new four-bay facility. These are expected to be followed by A320 and 757/767 devices to support the growing use of Western aircraft in Russia, says GECAT.

“S7 is intent on developing its own training capability. We are partnering them to assist in developing the centre,” says GECAT.
