This photo shows NASA scientist-astronaut Harrison Schmitt standing next to a huge, split lunar boulder during the third Apollo 17 extravehicular activity (EVA-3) at the Taurus-Littrow landing site. The photo was taken by Eugene Cernan, commander of the Challenger lunar module. Ronald Evans, commander of the mission, remained onboard Apollo 17 in lunar orbit while the two astronauts descended onto the Moon. |
