Maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider SR Technics is expanding its inhouse engine component repair capability following the completion of its $10 million acquisition of Sifco’s Large Aero Turbine Component Repair business, based near Cork, in Ireland.
The new addition to SR Technics’ portfolio will be known as SR Technics Airfoil Services and led by Jürg Bartlome who was formerly division manager, parts refurbishment at the company’s Zurich engine services centre.
It will provide turbine engine hot section component repair services for blades and vanes on GE, CFMI, Snecma, Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce large commercial aero engines. As part of the deal, Sifco will retain all existing liabilities related to the company.
SR Technics’ chief executive Hans Lerch says: “This will allow us to exercise greater control in regard to our turn times as well as providing more cost-effective solutions to our customers.”
Chairman Frank Turner adds that the acquisition “supports SR Technics’ strategy of providing integrated solutions for our customers worldwide and expands our Integrated Engine Solutions (IES) offering.”
