Saab and Romaero to make Airbus parts

co-operation Saab Aerostructures has signed a long-term agreement worth around $5 million to co-operate in the manufacture of subassemblies and components with Romanian aircraft manufacturer Romaero. “The agreement is a step forward in establishing a strategic alliance between Saab and Romaero,” says Saab. “Romaero will manufacture aircraft airframe parts. Since Saab Aerostructures is a risk-sharing partner in the A380 project, this framework contract could include work on the A380.” The company adds: “Other Romanian companies may benefit in the future from this deal.” EADS Socata, based in Tarbes, south-west France, said last month that it is shifting production of its TB20 and TB21 piston engine aircraft to Romania in a deal with Eurocopter Romania and state-owned IAR.
