FAA gives ETOPS nod to Airbus trio
Approval The US Federal Aviation Administration has approved three Airbus narrowbody airliners for 180min extended twin-engine operations (ETOPS). The approval covers the A319, A320 and A321 types and follows a similar decision by the European Aviation Safety Agency in 2004. Airbus says the first FAA ETOPS-approved A319 Corporate Jetliner is scheduled for delivery this month. The A318 is next in line for EASA and FAA 180min ETOPS approval in the second half of the year, says Airbus.
