Massive fire at Istanbul airport's cargo terminal; Bombardier CL-215 firefighters waterbomb inferno


Firefighters are battling a huge blaze at Istanbul Ataturk International airport which has engulfed part of the airport’s cargo section.

Images broadcast by Turkish television show a severe fire at the airport which has thrown up a column of thick smoke, potentially leading to disruption of flights.

Authorities are using firefighting aircraft, apparently Bombardier CL-215s, in a bid to control the inferno.

There are no indications of possible casualties and no information on the circumstances of the incident.
