Armavia data recorders recovered

Investigators have recovered the cockpit voice and flight data recorders from the wreckage of the Armavia Airbus A320 that crashed in the Black Sea in early May.

Efforts to locate and raise the devices, found at a depth of around 500m (1,640ft), were hampered by poor weather, complex undersea terrain, and the fact that the recorders were buried under a 20-50cm (8-20in) layer of silt.

The A320 crashed some 6km (10 miles) offshore while attempting to land at Russia’s Sochi airport on 3 May.
