Supersonic LCA
India’s indigenously developed and designed Tejas light combat aircraft (LCA) has completed its first supersonic flight while carrying weapons, marking the type’s entry into its operational flight-test phase. The aircraft flew beyond Mach 1 for 25min armed with two air-to-air missiles. The LCA has been developed by the the country’s Aeronautical Development Agency and is manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics. Four LCAs have completed 525 flights since the type’s maiden flight in January 2001.
