Rolls-Royce breaks ground on test facility
Rolls-Royce last week broke ground on an outdoor engine-testing facility at US space agency NASA’s Stennis Space Centre in Mississippi. The UK powerplant manufacturer is spending $42 million on the site, which will be used to test Trent-family engines from the second half of 2007. Population growth around its existing facility in Nottingham, UK “has made continued testing environmentally unsustainable”, says R-R.
