Boeing’s first 737-900ER moves to final assembly line

Final assembly of the first Boeing 737-900ER is under way at the manufacturer’s Renton plant near Seattle. The wing and landing gear have being joined to the fuselage, and last-stage assembly and interior installation are beginning as the aircraft joins the moving assembly line. The new 215-seat variant incorporates an extra pair of exits, a flat aft pressure bulkhead and other changes that boost its capacity and range. Launch customer is Indonesia’s Lion Air, which will receive the aircraft after it completes a five-month flight test programme that will start later this year.
