Southwest may allocate seats
Southwest Airlines began a trial of a new boarding process that could replace its hallmark first-come, first-seated procedure. The low-fares leader is testing several methods on its 200 daily departures from San Diego, but would not begin assigned seating before 2008. Other low-cost carriers tout assigned seating as a competitive selling point against Southwest.
