Premium traffic strong as British Airways lifts load factor in June

By Graham Dunn in London

British Airways (BA) passenger load factor was up nearly three points in June as traffic jumped almost 7%.

The Oneworld carrier’s traffic was up 6.6% in June over the same month last year. This was set against 3.1% additional capacity, helping to boost passenger load factor by 2.7 points to 81.6%.

June saw another strong performance in BA’s key premium traffic performance, which rose nearly 12%. Non-premium traffic was nearly 6% higher.

Cargo traffic was up 2.2% in June. BA says market conditions remain broadly unchanged, noting significant promotional activity is still required to maintain seat factors
