Airbus to pay Qantas $79m

Qantas Airways will receive A$104 million ($79 million) in damages from Airbus for delays in deliveries to its 12 firm-ordered A380s. The disclosure of the penalty, "which will be paid over time until the final delivery of the aircraft" was made in the carrier's fiscal 2005/06 results announcement. Its net profit fell 30% compared with 2004/05 to A$480 million.
