Compass on track

Northwest Airlines' plans to launch a new regional subsidiary have advanced after the US Department of Transportation (DOT) last week tentatively approved the transfer of defunct carrier Independence Air's operator's certificate to the new unit, Compass Airlines. Compass could eventually operate 76-seat regional jets for its parent company. Northwest says that "no specific start date has been determined" for Compass.
