Live TV builds veteran team

JetBlue Airways subsidiary LiveTV is building a leadership team comprised of veterans from the telecommunications and wireless industries to draft a plan for bringing affordable connectivity services to airlines.

The US in-flight entertainment manufacturer, best known for its live television services, in June won rights to use a 1MHz slice of air-to-ground (ATG) spectrum during the US Federal Communications Commission's auction of ATG licenses. This slice of the 4MHz of spectrum in the 800MHz band allocated to ATG services is not expected to support in-flight broadband services, such as those that will be facilitated by the exclusive 3MHz licence awarded for $31.3 million to AirCell. However, LiveTV says it can "do everything we need to do with 1MHz" of spectrum.
