South Korea orders 50 more Golden Eagles for training

Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has received a follow-on order to produce about 50 more T/A-50 Golden Eagle advanced jet trainers for the South Korean air force, boosting its orderbook for the type to more than 70.

The new production deal - of undisclosed value - builds on a South Korean launch order for 20 T-50s, eight of which have been delivered to the nation's air force so far.

Powered by a General Electric F404, the aircraft was co-developed with Lockheed Martin, which continues to market the aircraft jointly with KAI. The new T/A-50s will be manufactured at KAI's Sacheon plant.
