Lufthansa has signed up as launch customer for the new Boeing 747-8I with an order for 20 aircraft plus 20 options. Deliveries are scheduled from 2010 to 2013. The German carrier also has ordered seven additional Airbus A340-600s for delivery from early 2008 as part of a major long-haul fleet revamp that will allow it to replace existing widebodies and expand its route network.
