Honda Aircraft has selected two companies to make major airframe subassemblies for the HondaJet light business jet. UK-owned GKN Aerostructures will produce the carbonfibre-composite fuselage at its plant in Tallassee, Alabama, while Canadian firm Avcorp will build the metal wing in Delta, British Columbia.

Honda will assemble the HondaJet at new plant to be constructed at Piedmont Triad International airport in Greensboro, North Carolina, with deliveries of the advanced light jet scheduled to begin in 2010.

The company has also selected Garmin to supply the HondaJet’s integrated flightdeck. Garmin’s G1000 avionics system is fitted to the proof-of-concept aircraft built and flown at Greensboro. Honda has previously selected the GE Honda HF120 engine to power the six-passenger, twin-turbofan HondaJet.
