Air Transport
The aircraft will be delivered between 2009-2012 and will replace some of its 35 older Boeing 737s. Garuda was already leasing 10 737-800s and will convert the leases to purchases.
Garuda, which has suffered two fatal accidents in the last month, is undergoing a review of safety which follows several previous attempts to improve the carrier’s safety record.

Its fleet, which includes Boeing 747s, Airbus A330s and A300s has an average age of 10.4 years. The airline is looking at other new types but is hampered by debts and is in talks with creditors. It announced in looking for a strategic partner to expand its domestic and international operations.
