FedEx inquiry after two staff get locked in cargo bay for entire flight

Freight operator FedEx has opened an inquiry after two employees were transported in the freight hold of an aircraft between its Paris Charles de Gaulle cargo hub and Vienna.

The company confirms that the incident occurred on 30 March and involved a flight operated by one of its contracting partners, although it declines to identify the carrier.

But a spokesman for FedEx in Paris says that the two staff members – for unknown reasons – were shut in the hold of the aircraft, said to have been an ATR 72, and transported on a service to the Austrian capital.

“They were not injured,” he says. “But we have no extra information. There is an internal inquiry being done at FedEx in Paris.”
FedEx established its European hub at Charles de Gaulle in 1999.
