Double order for Rolls-Royce Trent
Aircraft lessor CIT Aerospace has ordered two versions of the Rolls-Royce Trent engine family in a deal worth up to $560 million.
The agreement covers Trent 1000s to power two firm and three optioned Boeing 787s and Trent 700s for four firm and seven optioned Airbus A330s.
CIT Aerospace ordered five 787-8s last year, for delivery from 2012, and has already stated that three will be powered by General Electric GEnx engines. To-date the company, which has 25 A330s on order, has taken delivery of eight Trent – powered A330s, leased to Edelweiss, Etihad and Iberworld.
The deal for the Trent 700s includes an order for engines to power two A330s placed by CIT with the Hainan Airlines Group of China.
