VIDEO: TAM cargo terminal demolished to make way for memorial site for those killed in TAM A320 crash

Brazilian authorities demolished a building where a TAM Airlines Airbus A320 crashed 17 July after speeding off a runway at Sao Paulo's Congonhas airport, killing nearly 200 people.

The Cargo Terminal - TAM Express, which was demolished 5 August, was hit by the aircraft as it sped off the runway.

The company plans to use the site as a memorial for those killed when TAM flight 3054 ran off the runway into a gas station and exploded.

Residents in the area were evacuated an hour ahead of the demolition operation as a precaution. Nearly 75 kilogrammes of explosives were used.
