Biography: Murdo Morrison

 Murdo Morrison is Editor of Flight International magazine, the world’s oldest aerospace weekly, a position he has held since 2001. As part of a team of senior editorial managers on Flight group, he heads a highly-respected global editorial operation, with journalists based in London, Washington and Singapore, in addition to regular freelance correspondents in more than a dozen cities, including Moscow, Tel Aviv and Rio de Janeiro. Flight International is one of just two English-language aerospace weeklies and is known for its technical expertise and authoritative reporting across every sector of the industry from air transport to defence aviation, and spaceflight to unmanned air vehicles.

Flight International is part of Reed Elsevier’s growing Flight group of aviation and aerospace information products, which includes the monthly boardroom title Airline Business, on-line premium service Air Transport Intelligence, the flightglobal.com web site and the ACAS fleet data operation.                

Prior to joining Flight International, he edited or held senior positions on a range of business-to-business and professional magazines in sectors such as road transport, printing, automotive and urban planning.

A politics graduate of Glasgow University and with a diploma from Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, he began his career in 1986 on a local newspaper in his native Scotland, before moving to London to work for Reed Business Information, publisher of Flight International, as a reporter on its road haulage weekly Commercial Motor.

He frequently appears on the media, including the BBC, as a commentator on aerospace matters and regularly addresses industry forums. He co-hosts the annual Flight Awards, held at the Paris air show and other major air shows.      

His pastimes include playing football, running and supporting Brighton & Hove Albion.
