Evergreen International Airlines has announced an order for three Boeing 747-400BCFs and acquired full operational control of the Boeing Dreamlifter fleet.The airline plans to upgrade its commercial operations with the three new 747-400BCFs starting in early summer 2009.

“The BCF will augment our current routes and will be focused on commercial service,” the airline explained in response to questions by ATI. “Specific routes will be developed as the delivery date of the aircraft is closer.”

The McMinnville, Oregon-based carrier also received the US FAA New Aircraft Process Document on 9 August. That document means Evergreen has revised its manuals, operations, maintenance and administration to meet the FAA’s standards for the 747-400-type, which includes the Boeing Dreamlifter.

Evergreen is operating the Dreamlifter fleet on contract for the Boeing company.

“This is an exciting time for Evergreen,” says Evergreen president Brian Bauer. “With certification completion, the full implementation of the Dreamlifter program and addition of the 747-400BCFs, we have a solid platform for the future.”

Evergreen will continue upgrading the operations of the airline by beginning the certification process for the FAA’s Air Transportation Oversight System (ATOS), which applies a more rigorous surveillance system for safety checks.
