Brazilian carrier BRA Transportes Aereos has firmed its preliminary agreement for 20 Embraer 195s and has secured options and potential purchase rights for another 55 aircraft.
BRA, which performs scheduled and charter services and has a large domestic network, is to configure the aircraft with a dense arrangement featuring 118 seats in a single-class cabin.
The Sao Paulo-based airline signed an initial deal for 20 jets at the Paris Air Show.
Embraer says that the agreement also provides 20 options plus 20 rolling options which, if firmed, would give the carrier purchase rights on another 15 aircraft – taking its overall total to 75.
The airframer values the firm part of the BRA order at $730 million at catalogue prices.
BRA has also opted to lease two Embraer 195s from GE Commercial Aviation Services. These are to be delivered early next year. Its current fleet comprises two Boeing 767s and eight 737s.
