The regional sister of Oneworld alliance member American Airlines is investing $10 million in the expansion effort, which is driven in part by the recent addition of new regional service from the Arkansas facility to Miami; Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; and Washington, DC.

American Eagle has operated a maintenance facility at Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport since 2004, employing 120 people. The expanded facility will be located in a hangar at the airport, and is expected to produce 100 more jobs in the years to come.

“American Eagle was the first scheduled airline to serve the Northwest Arkansas Airport nearly nine years ago. We are proud to offer more departures to more destinations than any other airline, and we are also proud to be growing our maintenance base in Northwest Arkansas,” says American Eagle president and CEO Peter Bowler.

The expansion comes on the heels of American’s launch of a newly-expanded maintenance facility at its Dallas/Fort Worth hub. The facility is a key part of American’s plans to continue to expand its outside contract maintenance business.
