Turkish carrier Atlasjet says this Boeing MD-83, which crashed while preparing to land at Isparta early on 30 November with the assumed loss of all forty-nine passengers and seven crew, suddenly lost contact with tower controllers during approach, adding that there was no immediate indication of a technical problem, and weather and visibility were good.

Flight KK4203 from Istanbul Ataturk crashed in a region of high terrain, on a 5,000ft (1,520m) peak west of the Kilic region and north of a village identified as Cukuroren. Kilic lies just to the north-west of Isparta Suleyman Demirel airport. The flight was a night-time service.

The aircraft was wet-leased by Atlasjet from World Focus Airlines and registered as TC-AKM according to Flight's ACAS database it was built in 1994 and had manufacturer's serial number 53185.
