President Bush signs pilots' age-65 bill into law

US President George Bush has signed into law the bill raising the mandatory retirement age for pilots from 60 to 65 years.

The White House confirms that Bush signed the ‘Fair Treatment for Experienced Pilots Act’ yesterday.

It follows approval of the legislation from US Congress earlier this week.

American Airlines’ pilot union, the Allied Pilots Association (APA), had urged Bush to veto the legislation but the union admits its support of maintaining retirement at age 60 was a minority stance.
