Middle Eastern carrier Emirates has started entering its first Airbus A380 services into reservation systems, the data showing the carrier intends to use the aircraft on its Dubai-New York JFK route from October 2008.
Global distribution system Amadeus’ reservation engine states that, on 1 October, Emirates will switch to using A380s for its EK201 and EK202 flights to and from JFK.
The service is listed as being operated by Boeing 777-300ERs prior to this date. Emirates executive vice-chairman Maurice Flanagan stated at the Dubai Air Show that the airline was keen to launch the A380 on the New York route.
Emirates, which has 58 A380s on order, has also indicated that Sydney and Melbourne are likely initial destinations for the aircraft.
