Gulfstream has clinched US certification for its PlaneView-equipped business jets to fly required navigation performance special aircraft and aircrew authorisation required (RNP SAAAR) approaches. The approval follows a 12-month collaboration with fractional ownership provider NetJets and avionics manufacturer Honeywell and paves the way for PlaneView-equipped G550, G500, G450 and G350s to fly approach procedures using both global positioning and inertial navigation reference systems. The aircraft can "fly predetermined paths preloaded in their flight management computers. These paths, which are navigated through the flight guidance control system, allow pilots to fly safer, more direct and lower minimum approaches, thereby reducing typical diversions.
