British Airways is intending to operate all long-haul departures from London Heathrow today but will cancel at least 10% of its short-haul flights in the aftermath of the Boeing 777 landing accident on 17 January.

The Oneworld carrier says that the cancellations are a knock-on effect from some of its aircraft, pilots and cabin crew being out of position following flight disruption caused by the event.

It says it will operate up to 90% of its short-haul services, adding: “A number of flights into Heathrow will also be cancelled.”

BA’s London Gatwick operations will not be affected.

Heathrow Airport operator BAA says 12 short-haul flights had been cancelled by 06:30. It adds: “At this stage we are working hard to restore near-normal operations.”
