Silverjet receives approach to create Middle East franchise

UK all-premium carrier Silverjet has been approached by investors interested in setting up a Middle East franchise venture.

London Luton-based Silverjet serves New York Newark and Dubai using all-business configured Boeing 767s.

A Silverjet spokesman says that since November the airline has been approached by a number of Middle East investors, interested in licensing Silverjet’s brand and service.

He says the investors are exploring the concept of using a Middle East airport, possibly Dubai, as a hub for long-haul services.

But he adds that the talks are at an informal and early stage.

As Silverjet is a listed company, it would have to make an announcement to the stock exchange if it decided to proceed with the plan.

Silverjet is due to take two more 767s at the end of March, which could be used to add frequencies to its existing routes or new destinations.
