Emirates will operate its inaugural Airbus A380 services on 1 October between Dubai and New York, and will introduce flights to London Heathrow on 1 December. Sydney and Auckland will join the network on 1 February 2009. Emirates has 58 A380s on order and will take delivery of its first five this year. Initial aircraft will be configured with 489 seats (14 first-class, 76 business and 399 economy). The airline will also operate some of its A380s in a medium-range three-class 517-seat configuration and a medium-range two-class configuration with 604 seats.
