Aircraft interiors EXPO: Thousand-up for Panasonic eFX

Panasonic Avionics has received an order for its 1,000th eFX inflight entertainment IFE system.

eFX, part of the company’s X-series portfolio, is a fully digital audio/video-on-demand (AVOD) offering optimised for single-aisle airliners. eFX and the widebody-optimised eX2 are lighter than previous-generation products, consume less power and offer more functionality. eFX customers include US low-fare operator Virgin America.

“We’re extremely pleased with Red, our eFX-based service, which includes pay-per-view films, TV, music, a selection of games, and meal ordering facilities,” says Charles Ogilvie, the San Francisco-based carrier’s director of IFE and partnerships. “IFE was a very important consideration in the design of our guest experience.”
