EBACE 2008: Work starts on BBJ3

Boeing says today that it has started work on the first Boeing Business Jet 3 (BBJ3), the VIP variant of its extended range 737-900ER, which entered commercial service last year. Boeing’s Washington facility is building wing parts, which will fixed to the fuselage prior to the aircraft joining the 737 moving assembly line. The first BBJ3 will enter service in 2009, after it receives its auxiliary fuel tanks and a custom interior. Boeing has secured eight BBJ3 orders to date.

An interview with BBJ chief pilot will be in tomorrow’s Flight Evening News.
