Spanish regional carrier Air Nostrum expects to cancel around 127 flights a day during two three-day stoppages this month called by pilots union SEPLA.

The first of the three-day stoppages begins on 21 May. A further three-day walkout is set to begin a week later. SEPLA says subsequent walkouts are planned for Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays thereafter.

Iberia regional feeder Air Nostrum describes the strike action as “disproportionate and irresponsible”, while the union itself accuses the airline of showing a lack of respect for the existing collective labour agreement.

Under Spanish rules ensuring minimum service levels, the carrier will still be able to operate around three-quarters of its schedule during the stoppages. But it will still see an average of 127 flights a day cancelled during the action.

Further talks are expected to be held prior to 21 May in a bid to avert the action.
