EBACE 2008: Middle East's MAZ Aviation to acquire six VIP A350s

Middle Eastern business aircraft specialist MAZ Aviation has committed to acquiring six VIP-configured Airbus A350 XWBs, the first of the type in the region.

Five of the ‘Prestige’ twin-jets will be A350-900 airframes and the sixth an A350-800. The agreement has been disclosed at the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition in Geneva.

No cabin outfitting centre has yet been identified to complete the aircraft. They will be fitted with Rolls-Royce XWB engines, still the sole powerplant available for the A350.

MAZ Aviation is chaired by Mohammed Al Zeer who has prior links with Saudi Arabian executive aviation company National Air Services.

“The kind of private customer that buys a VIP widebody wants the very best, and that’s exactly what they get with the A350 XWB Prestige,” says Al Zeer.

MAZ Aviation has not given a prospective delivery date for the aircraft. The agreement, says Airbus, is the largest single deal for its corporate airliner range.
