EBACE 2008: Ocean Sky’s the limit with Bombardier deal

London-based private jet company Ocean Sky has only been going since 2003 – but already it’s claiming to be Europe’s fastest-growing outfit in the sector with seven offices, 167 employees, 17 aircraft, 13 of them owned, and an annual turnover of more than $90 million in 2007/08.

As well as providing eight jets for the latest James Bond film ‘Quantum of Solace’, which is due to be released this coming autumn, Ocean Sky’s 3,000m2 maintenance facility at Manchester airport in north-west England has recently been certified to carry out routine servicing on all Bombardier’s Learjet, Challenger and Global aircraft.
It is anticipated that this new deal with the Canadian OEM will increase Ocean Sky’s current annual total of 400 aircraft serviced by around 300%.

Speaking at the show, ceo Kurosh Tehranchian said the company has commissioned world-famous designer Andrew Winch to create a stunning and luxurious ‘art deco’ design for the Boeing BBJ that Ocean Sky ordered at last year’s event in Geneva. The design/fit-out is expected to cost around US$20-million and the completion company has yet to be identified. The BBJ is due to be delivered ‘green’ in summer 2011.
