Speaking at the show, Sikorsky’s vice president Europe, Bruce McKinney, said that the S-92 remained under consideration to meet the USAF’s CSAR-X combat search and rescue requirement, where it was being re-bid after objections de-railed the selection of the HH-47 Chinook.
He said that the aircraft was also being offered to meet a Luftwaffe CSAR requirement, claiming that the selected NH90 had run into problems.
McKinney also said that the naval version of the S-92, based on the CH-148 Cyclone being built for Canada, was being offered to Denmark and Germany, claiming that the aircraft was “the most advanced maritime helicopter in the world”, brushing away suggestions that delays were increasing.
