Red Wings takes its first new Tu-204-100B

Russian low-cost carrier Red Wings has taken delivery of its first new-build Perm PS90A-powered Tu-204-100B from Aviastar factory in Ulyanovsk.

The airline already operates four Tu-204-100s purchased last year from AirUnion (KrasAir) and S7 (Sibir). The new aircraft will be used primarily on domestic passenger services from Moscow Vnukovo airport, and is equipped with a new interior specially designed for low-cost operations.

Red Wings ordered six Tu-204-100Bs in August 2007 and in October added a commitment for four Tu-204-100SM1s. The latter variant is equipped with more efficient Perm PS-90A2 turbofans, two-pilot flightdeck, upgraded auxiliary power unit and conditioning system and lighter wiring. Aviastar expects to deliver eight Tu-204s this year.
