FlightBlogger: Boeing powers-on 787 for first time

Power-on testing for the first 787 flight test aircraft has commenced at the final assembly centre in Everett, Washington, FlightGlobal.com affiliate FlightBlogger reports.

Boeing has confirmed the 787’s electric systems has been powered on for the first time within the aircraft, tracking closely to the latest revised schedule.

“We’re pleased the process has begun, and we are confident we’ll meet the milestone in June,” Boeing told FlightBlogger.

Power-on testing of all the 787's systems is expected to take several weeks in advance of a first flight event expected in the fourth quarter.

First delivery of the 787 to launch customer All Nippon Airways has slipped at least 15 months to the third quarter of 2009.
