FARNBOROUGH 2008: Service sells as IAE clinches China deals

Engine builder IAE announced three major new contracts at Farnborough yesterday. China’s Hainan Airlines has chosen the company’s V2500 engines to power a further 13 Airbus A320s, backed by a long-term V2500Select aftermarket service agreement. The combined engine/aftermarket deal is valued at around $350 million.

IAE’s V2500 engines now power 195 aircraft in service in China, and during the past 18 months the powerplant has been selected on more than 160 additional A320-family aircraft placed on firm order in the region.

Hong Kong Airlines has ordered V2500 engines on an Airbus A319 Corporate Jet (ACJ). The aircraft will be equipped with the new SelectOne build standard engines, delivering improved fuel-burn and lower emissions as well as enhanced time on-wing and lower maintenance costs. Delivery is scheduled for September 2009.

Finally, US Airways has signed a long-term aftermarket agreement covering 74 V2500-A5 engines currently powering the airline’s fleet of Airbus A320-family aircraft. US Airways has firm orders for a further 78 aircraft and this agreement will assume responsibility for scheduling and delivering a complete engine maintenance programme for the airline’s IAE-powered fleet.
