FARNBOROUGH 2008: Alteon shifts 787 training suite to Miami

Alteon Training announced yesterday that it will move a 787 training suite, including a full-flight simulator, to Miami, Florida, from its current scheduled base in Seattle, where it will be installed to support the entry into service of Boeing’s new 787 Dreamliner. There will be two training suites in Seattle during the introductory period.

The Miami training centre will be open for business in March 2010 to train pilots for airlines based in Latin America and the US. The suite includes full-flight and flat panel simulators, as well as desktop simulation systems offering both flight and maintenance training. There will also be centres open in Tokyo, London, Shanghai and Singapore, as well as Minneapolis.

Alteon Training president Sherry Carbary says the company will locate its simulators where the market demands and with a suite of different options. “We have increased the amount of crew training available with each aircraft, with options for training mechanics and cabin crews. These training blocks are measured in points, so if you don’t want the mechanic training for example, you can shift that to more pilot training and vice versa.”
