PICTURE: Tupolev Tu-204 freighter flies in DHL colours

Express freight specialist DHL has introduced a Tupolev Tu-204C freighter, which conducted its first flight between Moscow and Germany on 5 July.

It is using the Aviadvigatel PS-90-powered airframe RA-64024, which was delivered originally to UK-based freighter manager AirRep in 2003. The twin-jet has been operating for Lithuanian company Aviapaslauga.

DHL is using the Tu-204C, painted in the company’s distinctive livery, on the route from Moscow Sheremetyevo to its European central hub at Leipzig-Halle.

“This shows our commitment to the Russian market and underlines the success of our business development in the country,” says DHL’s country manager for Russia, Adrian Marley.

Services on the route will be flown six times per week. The Tu-204C is capable of transporting a payload of around 27t.
