FARNBOROUGH 2008: Asiana orders 30 Airbus A350s

South Korean carrier Asiana Airlines has settled on the Airbus A350 XWB after holding lengthy decisions with both Airbus and competitor Boeing to complete its major widebody order.

The carrier has signed a contract for 30 A350 XWBs combining all three variants of the aircraft, and also has options for 10 additional aircraft, Airbus announced during the Farnborough air show.

Asiana plans to place its A350s on regional and long-haul routes once deliveries begin in 2016.

“In placing this order today, we are ensuring that we will remain at the forefront of the airline industry, offering our passengers the very highest levels of comfort while operating only the most modern, fuel-efficient aircraft,” says Park.

The carrier is also assessing the A380 and 747-8, but Park has said the carrier has more work to do in its evaluations.
