Daher is showing off a full-scale model of a generic business jet tailcone, using the company’s advanced composites technologies.
These include automated fibre placement of the outer skin, a composite firewall and an APU air intake. Daher’s innovative technology has proven popular with Brazilian airframer Embraer, which has used it its Phenom 100 programmes. Daher also supplies Dassault Falcon Jet with components for the 7X.
Daher UK chairman Chris Melrose says: “We are close to signing a deal for the tail cone with an OEM, but for commercially sensitive reasons, I cannot reveal more details yet.” The tail cone would represent significant weight savings on a mid-size business jet, such as a Gulfstream G150 or a Cessna Citation X, offering between 20-30% off the overall
