FARNBOROUGH 2008: Lasting Legacy for Embraer’s suppliers

Embraer has released details of more suppliers for the new Legacy 450 and 500 business jets.

The two jets are now in the joint design phase, says Luis Carlos Affonso, executive vice president of Embraer’s executive jet arm. He says Embraer has about 20 confirmed suppliers and expects to announce further deals in the coming weeks.

Quebec-based Héroux-Devtek will manufacture and supply the landing gear. Vice president Martin Brassard says: “It is a strategic breakthrough for Héroux-Devtek, as we have a new customer and we will leverage our expertise related to this type of aircraft programme.”

Also joining the programme are B/E Aerospace, which will manufacture the passenger seating, while up front Goodrich will supply the aircrew seating.

Meanwhile Polyfab will provide the insulation for the brace of executive jets. And SKF Aerospace is to provide the thrust control quadrant and rudder pedals system. France’s Intertechnique will provide the oxygen system.

The cabin interior will be supplied by Austria’s FACC, which already is responsible for the Phenom 100 and 300, as well as the Lineage 1000. Electrical power is catered for by Pacific, and the bleed system will be provided by the UK’s Meggitt.
