A flying motorcycle in development could extend its wings by next summer and retract them again after landing in Oshkosh.
Samson Motorworks has announced their two-place SkyBike is one month into development by Swift Engineering, which recently designed the Eclipse 400 single engine jet. The SkyBike kit they're designing should retail for $50,000 and combine with a Suzuki or Honda motorcycle bought separately.
It could drive at 95 mph on the ground, accelerating quickly to takeoff speed before switching to exhaust. The tandem seats could hold up to 370 pounds next to 50 pounds of baggage. Ranges of 210 miles are in sight on 10.1 gallons of fuel.
"Since this is a three-wheel motorcycle you just drive it to the pump," says president Sam Bousfield.
